Combat Actions in Soulframe
Soulframe can be compared to the developer's previous release, Warframe, although Soulframe takes a more strategic approach, allowing players to make decisions on their next approach. Unlike the high-paced action of Warframe, the new creation from Digital Extremes, will be slower heavier, and more methodical. Like other RPGs, players will have the basic combat actions seen in other ARPG games such as dodging, rolling, blocking, and rolling. They will also have access to an arsenal of equipment to create a custom Builds that will suit every playstyle.
Attributes in Soulframe
The four main Attributes in the game are the following:
- Life
- Spirit
- Courage
- Grace
Life represents the player's main health and vitality. Builds are created by leveling all other attributes which then further affect the magic abilities that become available for use during combat.
Wandering Souls in Soulframe
Wandering souls are the souls of your ancestors that can be encountered in different locations to gain buffs that will aid you in combat. Once encountered, these can benefit the player by granting the player of buff which includes something like a fourth spell slot, or an improvement to attributes of the souls and ancestors system. Though these can be encountered in each location, their locations are randomly generated much like the Dungeons encountered in each location.
Stealth in Soulframe
The stealth feature was briefly showcased in the prelude gameplay, allowing players to take a slower approach and sneak up behind opponents to deal with a stealth attack. This gives you a chance to deal a lot of damage with a backstab attack.
Melee Combat in Soulframe
Players will be able to perform basic melee actions such as punching, pummelling with fists, or slashing and thrusting with swords. Different melee weapons and equipment can be looted throughout the different locations or Crafted through the crafting or blacksmith located at the hub in Nighthold. Along with Weapons, players can expect to also be able to craft different Armour items. Players can then utilize these weapons in combat through different attacks. Throwable weapons have also been featured in some of the game's early demo clips.
Pacts in Soulframe
Your pact menu can be viewed to swap out different prosthetic arms which displays your bond with the different bonds. The Pacts featured in the demo so far include the Pact with Orengall, Fey, and Ode Tempest. Each pact displays the set of three magic abilities it comes with seen below.
