Soulframe What We Know So Far
Traversing the Lands in Soulframe
As an open world, players will have a faster way to traverse the lands and cover ground faster rather than exploring on foot. With progress, players will be introduced to Omen beasts that become allies and used as Mounts in the game. Orengall is the wolf featured in the demo. He is one of many encountered Omen Beasts in the game that can be rescued.
What kind of World is Soulframe Set in?
The fantasy world of Soulframe puts an emphasis on nature and the conservation of the land from corruption, which not only affects the lands, but also the beasts that inhabit these locations. Soulframe takes place in Midrath, a realm of men, beasts, magic, and divine entities. The game was described to be a free-to-play MMORPG, with a similar structure to Warframe, a sister game previously released by the same developers, Digital Extremes. So far, players can catch a glimpse of the world from a few released demos and previous ones that help set the tone of the game despite it still being predominantly a work in progress with no official release date. From the preview, players can seamlessly drop themselves into dungeons, such as the Dermak Undercity featured during Tennocon 2023.
Nighthold in Soulframe
The released Soulframe demo features the main hub in the game, where players can seamlessly enter by 'falling' into it to reach the Silver Sea. Souls of the Envoy's ancestors can reside here after encountering them in the mortal realm. They can then further be employed to be responsible for various features such as Crafting or Blacksmithing. As Envoys progress through the game and continue to interact with different ancestors and beasts, this hub will continue to grow with structures and features.
Wandering Souls in Soulframe
Because players play as an Envoy of souls, developers introduced Wandering Souls that can be encountered in every Location. The Wandering Souls will appear as you enter each location so you will know what you are looking for as you explore the Location or Dungeon. Once encountered, these can benefit the player by granting something like a fourth spell slot, or an improvement to attributes of the souls and ancestors system. Though these can be encountered in each location, their locations are randomly generated much like the Dungeons encountered in each location.
